This particular loco was unofficially scrapped a few years ahead of schedule in 1976 after a ā€œclerical derailmentā€ at Haymarket MPD meant that the whole body was chromed, instead of a few engine parts. Thankfully it was salvaged by a railway hot rodder who proceeded to spend the next 7 years meticulously polishing it up before adding shark teeth to intimidate other slower train drivers into getting out of the middle lane.
